I caught up with an old friend from Taiwan and I was trying to explain what I do. We were talking in Mandarin Chinese and when it came to a point that I needed to explain what SharePoint is, I was stumped because I wasn’t sure how to say “SharePoint” in Chinese. So I did what every multi-lingual speaker would do … Google it! Here’s what Google Translate came back with:

Chinese

German

AktienPunkt

Spanish

CompartidoPunto

What do you think? Feel free to add some more translations …

  1. French: Point de Partage (Point of Sharing). However, for product names that don’t have a specific translation you usually just say the English word.

  2. The German translation is so wrong….

it translates ‘share’ as the ‘stock exchange shares’. But any translation would sound weird in a way, as you can’t quite say it that short
